Gospel
Reading of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew (8.5 to 17):
At that time, when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him begging him, "Lord, I have at home a servant who is in bed paralyzed and suffers a lot."
Jesus replied, "I'm going to cure him."
But the centurion replied, "Lord, I am not who I am so you come under my roof. Only say word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a discipline and I have soldiers under me; and I say to one, 'Go' and he goes; to another, 'Come' and he comes; my servant, 'Do this,' and it does. "
Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those following him, "I assure you that in Israel have I found such faith in anyone. I tell you that many will come from east and west and will recline with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; however, citizens of the kingdom shall cast out into the darkness. There will be the crying and the grinding of teeth."
And the centurion said, "Come home, fulfill what you have believed." And at that time got good servant.
When Jesus came into Peter's house, he found his wife's mother in bed with a fever; he took her hand, and passed the fever; he rose and began to serve them. At dusk, they brought him many demon-possessed; he, with his word expelled the spirits and healed all the sick. So was fulfilled what the prophet Isaiah said: ". He took our infirmities and bore our diseases"
